Echo and the Bunnymen
The Knife
Low
Wire
Clinic
Like four or five New Zealand bands

The Microphones

I saw a doc of Low touring Europe on the e-WAM channel (134 on Comcast). I don't know what "e-WAM" specializes in, but there it was.

I like Low but this doc and their personalities are just like their music, slow and quiet. Didn't make for good viewing. Good music though, but best for headphones.

There's some good bands on this list, stop lying and make yourself an honest man. Screamadelica (Pr Scream), Pink Flag (Wire) and Ocean Rain (Echo etc etc) are quality. Maybe not start-to-finish quality but I personally guarantee each album has at least 3-4 great songs.

I didn't mean that I haven't actually ever heard of any these groups, just that I have occasionally lied about how much I listen to them. And I would debate you on Low certainly, and possibly Primal Scream as well.

sorry, I meant "heard", not "heard of"

I understood your original intent, G.H. I'm saying you should give them another shot.

Low is a little too slow but check out "Silver Rider" and "Cue the Strings" from Great Destroyer. That's the only album I've heard, really.

Primal Scream may be too dance-y/techno-ish for the Rockist vibe.

Ha, yeah, will do (at least Wire, Echo). Glad to see we're actually giving off a distinct "Rockist vibe".

Yeah, you've branded yourselves.

Wire/Pink Flag is really cool, every song is 2 minutes so if you hate it you don't have too long to wait until the next one. It's the only Wire album I own, I met some random guy once and he talked it up so much I thought, WTF, and bought it.

So now I'm doing the Haley Joel Osment and trying to pay it fwd.

I've listened to each of those bands a few times, decided I heard enough and moved on. Clinic might be the only band that I'll listen to on a blue moon.

Jimbromski, I'll give Wire another try since you're so damn insistent.

So, I went back and listened to Wire. I can take it or leave it. Maybe if I had listened during my formative years for rock I'd have a better appreciation. The newer bands listed, like Low and The Knife, I didn't care for from the beginning. The conclusion: G.H. knows what he's talking about.
